Remote Interviewing Tips

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

First things first

  1. Is your interview a telephone or video interview?

  2. Have you found a quiet space where you will not be disturbed?

  3. Have you prepared for the interview questions?

Telephone and video interviews will be pretty similar. However, the video interview will allow you the visual cues you would usually expect in a face to face interview.

For a video interview, keep in mind that you will need to dress as you would for a face to face interview. Ensure that you have set up your space in advance. Your space should be clear, tidy and free of distractions. If you need to set up in the bedroom, find a dresser or surface which can fill in for a desk. Find yourself a chair that will allow you to sit upright. This is important as your posture affects your voice projection and clarity – you do not want to give the impression of mumbling into your chest.

Once you have your area set up, test your internet connection. From here, you are all set. It is a case of doing your technical or competency preparation.
